Fool's Gold Store in Brooklyn – Former home of the Quack

10 years ago Armand van Helden and A-Trak released the track Barbra Streisand as Duck Sauce. A quirky anthem to New York, though I didn’t clock it as one at the time. The track was on heavy rotation regardless, because each of them is a safe bet on their own.

To mark the 10th anniversary, A-Trak shared some background on the release of the track and especially on the making of the video. I love how A-Trak has been sharing behind-the-scenes stories over the past few months. That reminded me of how I once cut an edit from the video’s audio track and the original song, combining elements from the video that weren’t in the original. The scratch solo, the talkbox and the “Here I aaaaaam” from the fake Barbra are brilliant!

The video, complete with fresh backstory captions, dropped yesterday to celebrate the anniversary.

Hi, I'm Olli, I've been living in Hamburg since 2008 and have been working in the media industry there ever since. Before that, I spent many years spinning records in the Northern German club scene while also writing for music-related magazines. Now, after a break of several years, I'm blogging again and writing from the heart, which I think is pretty awesome.
